Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Director of Early Childhood Education, the 4K DPI Lead Teacher is responsible for the daily operation of a designated licensed preschool child care program. This includes providing quality childcare, fostering achievement, encouraging belonging, acting as a positive role model for children and other staff.

Essential Functions:

• Facilitates socialization, participation and interaction of all participants through active involvement in safe, fun and developmentally, appropriate activities in a licensed preschool child care program; provides adaptations based on individual needs and utilizes positive behavior guidance techniques with participants.
• Implements developmentally appropriate program curriculum and coordinates supplies for designated program(s).
• Assures compliance with accreditation, licensing, school district and YMCA program standards when applicable. Ensures accountability, safety, quality and consistency. Maintains proper records/department files.
• Trains, provides guidance to and directs 4K Assistant Teachers and volunteers as needed. Reports any performance concerns or policy violations to supervisor immediately.
• Knows and understands child care programs, department policies and emergency procedures and is able to clearly explain said information to members.
• Facilitates the development of small communities, helping members to connect with other members.
• Communicates clearly and professionally with members, guests, supervisor, and co-workers.
• Maintains an organized, healthy and safe environment by returning all supplies and equipment to its appropriate place.
• Performs required safety, cleanliness and maintenance checks, takes the necessary precautions to prevent accidents, and reports any concerns to supervisor.
• Assists other child care sites when needed as determine by supervisor or Director of Early Childhood Education.

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Bachelors Degree with DPI License required
• At least6 months related experience as a teacher in a licensed preschool or early childhood education center required.
• Ability to identify child's needs, make appropriate referrals, and implement individual education plans and or 504 plans based on the school district's policies and recommendations required.
• Knowledge of general child growth and development, learning theories, and developmentally appropriate activities for children required.
• Must possess reliable transportation for travel when required.
